Home Remedies for A White Smile
A smile is one of your most noticeable traits we have as humans, and is often one of the first things looked at by others. If you have rotted yellow teeth, it can really turn one off. By keeping your teeth nice and white, you’re keeping your smile great and keeping up a good appearance. Oftentimes, one will desire a whiter, shinier smile, but will lack the funds to support such a goal. That’s where we come in. We’re here today to help you whip up some do-it-yourself solutions and to help keep your teeth looking great.
Don’t expect instant results here, give it a while. Use these methods daily and you will start to see a change in the shade of your teeth. One easy thing you can do to improve the appearance of your teeth is to eat oranges. Well, eating the orange doesn’t help, but the peel that’s left over will. Take an orange peel and rub the white side on your teeth. Doing this will help you remove stains. Note that it says “help you to”: please do not use this method or any of the other methods in place of brushing your teeth regularly.
Something else you can do is use baking soda. Baking soda used to be what was used before toothpaste came around, so it’s obviously effective. What you can do is mix it with warm water. You should probably make the concoction 2/3rds baking soda and 1/3rd water. It will create a gooey paste which can be applied to your teeth to help whiten them. You can either use this as a substitution for toothpaste or you can apply it with your finger. Keep the paste on your teeth for 2-5 minutes and rinse.
On the other hand, one of the easiest things you could do is just buy toothpaste with baking soda in it. This is probably less effective than the method explained above, but it is a possibility. Now, when you’re looking out for your teeth, you can do some things which really don’t take much effort at all. For one, you should brush after every meal. Of course, there are situations where you can’t, but you should always try.
Something else you can do is to use a straw when drinking sodas, teas or juices. This makes them go right into your mouth and avoids the face of your teeth. This takes little to no effort and will even take some of the effort out of drinking (you no longer have to lift the cup - just position the straw and take a sip.
On the subject of drinking, you can also avoid red wines and coffee. These liquids will stain your teeth over time. If you happen to be fond of them and don’t wish to give them up completely, try to drink them less often, and when you do drink them, don’t let them just stay in your mouth for a long time. This can increase the risk. Take sips and swallow.
Now, one thing that we’re pretty sure everyone knows is that smoking negatively affects your teeth. We’re not going to get into the health risks of smoking, as it would take an entire novel just to mention them. We’re just going to say that if you do smoke, try to get rid of this extremely unhealthy habit: it will definitely help your teeth stay whiter and it will help you be a lot healthier. With of all these tips and self-discipline, you should definitely be able to have that smile you’ve always wanted.
